Toshiba, the smallest players in the world of hard drives, introduces a new professional range, the MK01GRRB / R. There are four models (MK1401GRRB, MK1401GRRR, MK3001GRRB, MK3001GRRR) hard drives, all running at 15,000 rpm.

Hard drives are formatted SFF (Small Form Factor) or 2.5-inch hard drives with a thickness of 15 mm instead of 7 mm, 9.5 mm or 12.5 mm models for the general public. The interface is chosen SAS 6 gigabits / s and the cache is 32 MB

The average access time is low - 15 000 rpm force - with only 5 ms for reading. Toshiba did not announce the rates, but they should be high. The range includes models of 147 GB and 300 GB models, each time with the possibility of obtaining an encrypted version materially.

Consumption is quite high given the capacity and size, again because of the speed: 4.5 W in idle (about 300 GB) and 8.7 W in use.

Finally, the MTBF is announced 1.6 million hours and the 5-year warranty, which is common on professional ranges.
