Ubuntu for Android: a system in the system
Canonical - the company that publishes Ubuntu - Ubuntu announced for Android. The company offers a system that literally in the system: a traditional office applications (Chromium, VLC, Thunderbird, etc..) And the ability to turn an Android smartphone into a "computer" classic.
Ubuntu for Android is a wrapper which takes advantage of the Linux kernel and Android that integrates seamlessly with the Google system, sharing some data (eg address book) but by radically changing the ergonomics of the system.
Ubuntu for Android is obviously not usable on all devices: you need a dual core processor at 1 GHz (Cortex A9 or Snapdragon, therefore), an OpenGL ES GPU (which should not be a problem), 512 MB RAM, 2 GB of storage, a USB host mode to connect a mouse and a keyboard (it will usually have to purchase an accessory) and HDMI output with its own framebuffer (some models simply clone the screen output).
Remains to be seen how this system will be distributed in the system and if the sauce will: Motorola, with the Atrix, proposed an ecosystem of its kind and the success was not to go.
