Soon SSD "cache" enhanced Intel
Intel in recent months, offers SSD to be used in conjunction with a Z68 chipset and software to improve performance by using flash memory as cache. The Intel 311 provide a current capacity of 20 GB (which is enough for a cache) and are based on SLC memory engraved in 34 nm, which explains the high price (about 100 €). SSDs are available in two formats: the classic mSATA and 2.5-inch (9 mm).
The new 313 range will evolve, but little: the memory will drop from 34 to 25 nm (still in SLC), the capacity will rise to 24 GB (20 GB model is still available) and 2.5 inch models will be offered in a format finer, 7 mm thick. But the controller will remain the same: Intel does not yet have SATA controllers 6 gigabits / s.
Expected price? 100 and $ 120 in 20 and 24 GB Interest remains quite limited against a conventional SSD ...
